Reincarnation is the first book in an eight-part series about a dynasty of Hispanic and Native American witches who have plagued the Santa Fe area for centuries. The books span the time frame from the Sixteenth-Century to present day and
are historical. The books mainly take place in the history-rich area of Madrid, New Mexico, which was once a company-owned coal-mining town, and is in present-day something of an artists' colony. Madrid was once put up for sale in the New York Times in the 1950's and is a rather colorful town and so a great setting for these books, along with the Santa Fe, old Albuquerque area.
The Madrid witches are something of a soap opera filled with the magic of the Southwest, but at the heart of each book, like RETURN OF THE BONES, the series is about family.
The Madrid witches fight for power, deal with jealousies, and struggle between good and evil, both internal and external. The books are filled with realistic characters you will come to love, root for, and who sometimes will make you cringe.
A majority of the witchcraft in the book has actually been practiced by both Hispanic and Native American witches (brujas and brujos), powers passed down for centuries in this Land of Enchantment called New Mexico. There are historical records in Santa Fe detailing witch trials, witch hangings, and witch burnings that took place in New Mexico. The Spanish Inquisition ruled New Mexico beginning in the early Sixteenth Century. We're talking real witches, my friends, with magical powers, not a bunch of hysterical school girls begging for attention, like in the Salem Witch Trials where innocent people were sentenced to death. I'm talking real power here, white magic for healing, red magic for making one ill, and the black magic for death.
These books are all great fun and are being written simply with the goal to entertain, make you catch your breath and sigh.
I have been working on this series for eight years now and have about 1200 pages. I am splitting the first two books into three books and will then publish.
I humbly give you here a sneak-peek at the first chapter.
